  • Land: Domaine Hubert Lignier is deeply rooted in the renowned vineyards of the Côte de Nuits, particularly Morey St Denis, Gevrey Chambertin, and Chambolle Musigny, with recent expansions into Nuits Saint Georges and Pommard. These areas are characterized by thin, clay and limestone soils that naturally limit crop yields, fostering vines that produce concentrated and expressive fruit. The estate adheres to "lutte raisonnée," using only organic compost and avoiding herbicides, which highlights their commitment to sustainable viticulture practices.
  • Wine: The 2021 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Hubert Lignier captures the essence of its ancient vines, sourced from small parcels within the premier crus of Les Faconnières and Les Chenevery. These vineyards, with vines planted as early as 1936, benefit from their proximity to Clos de la Roche, imbuing the wine with a grand-cru level complexity and an exceptional sappiness that reflects the age of the vines. Aged for 21 months in barrels, with one-third new oak, this cuvée unfolds with deep layers and a robust structure.
  • People: The Lignier family's winemaking legacy dates back generations, with Laurent Lignier now at the helm following the leadership of his father Hubert and in the wake of his brother Romain's tragic passing in 2004. Under Laurent's direction, the domaine continues to marry traditional methods with sensible innovations. Practices such as green harvesting, use of "sélection massale" for vine propagation, and minimal intervention in the cellar—such as natural yeast fermentations and gravity-flow wine movements—are pivotal. This approach ensures the production of wines that are not only reflective of their terroir but also maintain the integrity and history of the estate.

We ship wine to most states with a $100 minimum order for shipping. We don't ship spirits nor beer.
